Design & Aesthetics:
The exterior design of the 2023 Land Cruiser retains its familiar form, featuring modern elements such as an oversized grille, slim LED headlamps, and sharper corners. The rear design is simpler but cohesive. However, some feel that the previous model had a more imposing presence. The interior maintains a safe aesthetic with a 2-tone scheme and soft leather upholstery. The cabin layout is cleaner than before, with a sportier steering wheel design and updated multimedia screen. However, some trim elements could have been more refined.
Powertrain & Performance:
The Land Cruiser LC300 incorporates the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), reducing its weight by about 200 kg, resulting in improved efficiency and road dynamics. Two engine options are available: a carry-over 4.0-litre V6 and a new 415 PS twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6. The latter offers noticeable power advantages while maintaining similar fuel efficiency. The turbocharged V6 delivers impressive acceleration and improved handling, thanks to increased torsional rigidity and a lowered center of gravity. Off-road capabilities are enhanced with features like low ratio gearing, differential lock controls, Crawl Control, and Turn Assist.
Features & practicality:
The Land Cruiser LC300 offers ample space, especially in the front seats and second row. With the third row folded down, there is substantial cargo space. The cabin features a 4-zone climate control system, connectivity options, and a variety of storage compartments. The higher-end variants come with a 14-speaker JBL audio system and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Verdict:
The 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 is an evolution of a time-tested product, providing safety, comfort, and off-road capabilities. While the design may appeal to loyalists, some aspects could use further refinement. The introduction of the turbocharged V6 engine is a welcome addition. Overall, the Land Cruiser offers reliability and residual value alongside its new features.
