Nissan makes the all-rounder Murano sportier for 2012

Crossovers have become an ideal vehicle for families in recent times as they offer generous space, stylish looks and deliver power with ease in handling. Especially here in the Middle East, people look for an all-rounder and crossovers come across as an ideal option. This keeps car makers on their toes to deliver their best and one of the toughest contenders in this segment is the Nissan Murano.

Nissan has had a successful history with this crossover and to continue the same they recently unveiled Murano 2012 here in UAE. With upliftments in exterior styling and new interiors, Murano 2012 is better that ever before. The stylish interiors offer cutting edge technology and space both for passenger and cargo and Nissan’s 3.5L V6 packs the crossover with tremendous power.  Murano is a display of Nissan’s expertise and experience in car manufacturing.

The exterior styling of Murano 2012 is sleeker than the previous model and the addition of sharp cuts and edges all around the body, it looks sportier than before. Head and tail lamps are designed with razor-sharp edges and straight lines incorporating the contemporary LED lights and HID. Nissan’s signature grille is revamped with modern styling for Murano to emphasize on the sporty personality. The front bumper is well designed and contributes to enhance the front profile however; the rear bumper bears a simple design and could look much better with more cuts and lines. A sleek spoiler with stop lamp, roof-rails and 18” 5-spoke aluminum alloy wheels give Murano the SUV touch.

Murano is an athlete and it loves to run fast, powered by a 3.5L V6, this engine breathes deep with Nissan’s continuous variable valve timing control system. This blend of technology and power produces an impressive 256HP at 6000RPM. The engine is mated to a 6-speed XTRONIC CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) which makes gear shifting a smoother process as compared to conventional automatic transmission. For higher fuel efficiency, the AWD system kicks in as the Murano starts from a standstill, once in motion the engine moderates power sent to front and rear wheels as and when required. This not only helps the fuel efficiency but also enhances the traction and control on corners. Murano is the kind of crossover which drives smooth and handles easy and with a slight push on the throttle it displays the power held within.

On the interiors, Murano bears a simple yet elegant layout. The leather trim and upholstery with chrome accents make most of its well-designed interiors and they come live with the soft glow of ambient lighting. The dashboard lies in a straight pattern and the central console smoothly flows down to the gear-stick. It includes a 7” colour monitor with Multiple Information Displays. Navigation, rear-view camera, audio information, Bluetooth hands-free phone system are clearly displayed on the screen. Audio comes through a 6-CD changer with MP3 and AM/FM playback, an AUX and USB jack is provided to support iPod and other MP3 players. Below this screen lies the control buttons which are easy to use and are put together in a beautiful pattern. The tilt/telescopic steering wheel is wrapped in leather and mounted with various buttons to control audio and cruise-control settings. The instrument cluster is well lit for clear reading and is gracefully finished in aluminium trim. The dual panel moon roof creates an illusion of larger space and offers spectacular views. Both first and second row seats are comfortable and finished in leather (optional), Murano offers generous head and leg room. A simple pull of two levers in the cargo area allows for the second row seats to fold down allowing ample of cargo space and with the electronic rear liftgate, loading and unloading is now an easier process. Murano makes a bold statement with its graceful and elegant interiors adding convenience at finger tips with the intelligent use of technology.
