What’s up with Toyota FJ Cruiser 2012?

Some of us love the Toyota’s FJ Cruiser, some of us just like it. But the one thing that we all agree to in the case of this SUV is that it’s different, its different to any other SUV in its range. Toyota has designed and shaped this SUV in a unique and different manner with a rugged body which is modernly designed in retro styling.

Engineers and designers at Toyota Motor Corporation have worked hard, year after year, to enhance FJ Cruisers nimble on-road performance and boost its powerful off-roading capabilities. Toyota’s hard work has indeed paid off, especially here in the UAE, people love the FJ Cruiser. This love is quite evident from the number for FJ Cruisers you see rolling on the streets of Dubai.

For the same spirit, Toyota has launched the 2012 version of the FJ Cruiser in UAE, with a 4.0L, V6 24 Value engine mated with a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission, the FJ Cruiser has enough power to take you anywhere you want to go. As the FJ Cruiser is an off-spring of the legendary off-roader, the Land Cruiser, it powerfully dominates off-road terrains.

From the outside, 2012 FJ Cruiser looks exactly similar to the 2011 model except for the addition of dual halogen lamps and day time running LED’s placed on the front bumper, right below the side indicators. It is available in 7 body colors to choose from which go well with the signature white colored roof of the FJ Cruiser. Sitting on 17″ Alloy wheels with side protection mouldings, front and rear sporty bumpers, this SUV drives easily even over the most unleveled terrain. Powered, chrome finished side mirrors with illumination and the front skid plate add to the styling. Dual halogen fog lights are powerful and provide good visibility when off-roading in the dark.

FJ Cruiser’s USP has always been its rugged and sporty look, this may also be one the reason that Toyota does not change the exterior of the FJ Cruiser.

Toyota has also launched the FJ Cruiser Xtreme Edition which has got a higher wheelbase, larger tires, fender flares, new bump stops and a modified suspension for better off-roading experience.

On the interior side the FJ Cruiser continues the classic retro design, with steel finished central console and side panel, the design truly gives it the boy’s toy feeling. Its spacious on the front row but the legroom in the second row still feels cramped.

Audio comes through JBL’s 6 CD changer, 10 speakers and boxed sub-woofer fitted in the rear cargo space which delivers rich music quality. The fabric Seats are comfortable and water proof. Features like the parking sensors and muffler cutter are an added advantage.

The rear provides a good cargo space and with the second row seats folded down you can easily fit an elephant inside.

The steering wheel is well design with audio, Bluetooth and cruise control buttons. The multi-information display helps by providing all the necessary information about ABS and Traction control to name a few. However on the driving side, the FJ Cruiser’s broad rear pillars create a lot of blind spots in the rear which are challenging when driving.

Under the hood of the FJ Cruiser lies the giant 4.0L, V6, 24 valve Dual VVT-engine which delivers 270 HP at 5600 RPM. This engine is mated with a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. With this kind of power in the lightweight body of the FJ Cruiser, the SUV generates an impressive pick-up. Its quick and easy to maneuver in terrains. FJ Cruiser’s sporty design makes possible a higher wheel base which is a great advantage on rocky terrain.
