Toyota Land Cruiser 2011 is here to win hearts…Again!!!

Toyota Land Cruiser has been a very familiar and popular name in the United Arab Emirates for 60 years now, this SUV has proved it self from a comfortable and spacious family vehicle to a beast in the desert. People here in the Middle East love everything about the Land Cruiser and it’s the first name that comes to their mind when they think about conquering the mighty sand dunes.

The latest addition to continue Land Cruiser’s 60 year old legacy is the new 2011 edition. As this SUV shares a special connection not only with the people here but also with U.A.E.’s history, Toyota has also launched a limited Land Cruiser 60th Anniversary Edition, the best way to celebrate these 60 years of success. Along with this special edition, Al Futtaim Motors also launches the Land Cruiser Xtreme Edition along with FJ cruiser Xtreme and Hilux Xtreme for 2011. This Xtreme edition line-up of vehicles is specially modified to provide the ultimate off road experience.

Land Cruiser 2011 now comes with three engine options, the all new 5.7L V8 32 valve engine which delivers 362 HP at 5,600 RPM boasting four valves per cylinder with the new Dual VVT-i (which can also be found in the FJ cruiser, Prado and Sequoia 2011) and 6-speed super ECT’s Sequential shift delivering the control of a manual transmission thus being the most powerful Land Cruiser made to date. Also available are the 4.7L V8, 32 valve, VVT-i producing 271 HP at 5,400 RPM and the rather smaller 4.0L, V6, 24 valve, VVT-i engine producing 240 HP at 5,200 RPM. All three engines are also available for the 60th Anniversary Edition and Xtreme Edition.

Land Cruiser is always packed with a bundle of features which make the drive smooth and comfortable both on and off road, the new Cruiser comes with a list of features as well. Lets begin with the new Hill-start assist control which gives the vehicle a smooth launch on slopes by automatically applying brake pressure to hold the vehicle whenever rollback is detected. Equipped with a full-time 4WD system with TORSEN® LSD to optimize front/rare torque distribution regardless for straights, corners or slippery surfaces seamlessly maintaining stability, apart from these the Cruiser is also packed with multi-terrain ABS to enhance grip and Crawl control system for hassle free comfortable ride on loose and rocky surfaces. Above all the true hero of the 2011 Land Cruiser is the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), this innovative suspension technology offers both on-road stability and an articulation for off-road exploration. Here the front and rear suspensions are linked by a hydraulic pressure system to suppress any roll on –road and while ensuring free wheel-stroke off road.

The exterior showcases a prominent bold design which promises durability with performance. The LED daytime running lights which are placed right below the headlights are an addition not present in last year’s model. They give a unique facelift and also increase visibility. Side indicators are now placed on chrome finished side mirrors giving a very stylish look. Rest of the exterior looks exactly similar to last years model with no change in design.

In the 60th Anniversary edition, the most eye catchy touch on the exterior comes with the special 60th anniversary logo embedded on the rear pillars. The same logo is also extensively used in the interiors from the central console to the floor carpets, moreover when you open the driver and front passenger doors; you are welcomed with the 60th anniversary logo on the scuff plates, illuminated with sky blue backlight (picture). The smart key also bears the logo and comes with a stylish case. These details indeed give the special edition touch.

The new Land Cruiser is equally impressive on the inside as it is on the outside, features like diamond shaped stitched seats, custom-tailored window shades to reduce head and lend privacy, rear seat entertainment comprising individual DVD loaders in each headrest with USB playback and wireless headphones and a rear view camera displaying on the rear view mirror for eliminating blind spots when reversing. JBL blends with Toyota again to give the Land Cruiser crystal clear music through 14 speakers and a 6 DVD changer with audio jack and USB support. However, the absence of a sub-woofer is a drawback. The cruiser is also equipped with a Sat-Nav system.

Almost everything can be controlled from the steering wheel including the terrain select options. The multi-terrain information display helps by providing information about various terrain options.
