The Mercedes-Benz E-class 2012 packs unlimited technology. Car Review

The three pointed star is one of the most respected symbols in the world of automobiles. This legendry German signature alone describes a century old history of designing and producing some of the most luxurious and fast vehicles. Mercedes-Benz has been a big name and has lived up to it in all standards, it has forever etched its name as an iconic car maker. Dubai has always appreciated the lushness and lavishness of Mercedes-Benz and the will continue to do so as the all new E-class makes a stunning entry for 2012.

Available as a coupé and as a sedan, offering a choice of five engine options and numerous selections in interior trim, it is pretty clear that Mercedes strives to deliver vehicles which can be altered to suit you perfectly. This 2012 edition of the flagship E-class is loaded with ultra-modern technology, for instance the sedan is equipped with sixty sensors, yes you got that right, ‘sixty sensors’ to ensure driver’s well being. The E-class received a visual makeover in late 2009 and continues the same design for 2012. Contrary to common opinion of this shape being boxy and boring, I myself find it to be rather muscular with a classic touch of the eighty’s. The sharp front look with prominent V-shaped lines flowing to the center, beautifully styled twin-headlamps and edgy bumper curves look bold and dynamic at the same time. On the wide sides of E-class, sharp lines stroke towards the rear along with muscular rear fenders and wheel arches. The rear comprises of rectangular LED wrap-around tail lamps and square shaped exhaust pipes. Convex and concave curves on this sedan give it a contemporary look and boxy edges bring in the retro feel, Mercedes seamlessly blends designs from two generations giving E-class the best of both worlds. 

E-class is available in Dubai with a choice of five engines, namely, 1.8L 4-cylinder (E 200 & E 250), 2.8L V6 (E 300), 3.5L V6 (E 350), 5.5L V8 (E 500) and the monstrous 6.3L V8 from AMG (E 63) . The transmission on these engines comes with a 6-speed manual, 5-speed automatic or a 7G-TRONIC auto transmission. Power withheld by these engines is inexplicable, the AMG E 63 propels from a standstill to 100KMPH in just 4.5 sec. The AIRMATIC suspension incorporates selective damping system, here the shock absorbers automatically adjust according to the road conditions thereby delivering a smooth, bump free ride.

The engineering from Mercedes is highly respected for decades now, E-class clearly explains why. Once on the road this sedan holds the road and launches with astonishing power without disturbing your pleasant luxury. E-class 2012 convincingly delivers commanding power and agile control, once on the road, it does not disappoint.

Elegance, technology, comfort, luxury all defines the cabin of an E-class. The classy finishing of leather and wooden trim (optional aluminium brushed) give the interiors a lavish feel. However the designs on the dashboard are very simple in design and boring. Talk about technological features and E-class 2012 has them all. Mercedes has loaded this luxury sedan with sensors and other gadgets to bring convenience down to your fingertips. Features like Speed Limit Assist which scans road signs to show the speed limit on the central display, reversing camera and PARKTRONIC which scans for parking spots as you drive by them and lets you know if you can fit into the spot, such features truly bring a new level of drive comfort. Other features include multi-zone automatic climate control, 14-way powered multicontour seats and Herman/Kardon LOGIC 7 surround sound system with 14 speakers and 600 watts of power. E-class is loaded with many other luxurious and technologically advanced features which bring highest levels of comfort to your journey.

For the safety of its passengers, Mercedes has and never will compromise. E-class is packed with 8 airbags, a combination of various driving assist like DISTRONIC PLUS, BAS PLUS etc., keyless entry system, night vision to detect pedestrians in the dark and the list goes on and on.
