The biggest attraction of Mazda 6, or for that matter, any of the Mazda series is the stunning exterior styling. Mazda 6 follows the family design pattern with flamboyant leaf shaped wrap around head and tail lamps. Sharp lines on the bonnet flow downwards on the vehicle and meet in a ‘V’ pattern on the grille. Attractive angular designs complete the front bumper with fog lights and chrome styling. The side profile stands out with bold wheel arches and 18” alloy wheels (16” for base and 17” for midlevel). The sporty wrap around tail lamps complements the rear along with the high mount stop lamp on the bumper. Mazda 6 is indeed wrapped with a strikingly amazing design, it goes with the long and wide stance of a family car and does not fail to look a sporty.

The design on the interiors is clearly influenced by the exterior styling. Step inside and you are surrounded by pleasant curves and angles. The beautiful shapes are compromised by use of hard plastics, the touch, feel and look of which is rather disappointing. Apart from this, Mazda 6 does not fail to impress, the wide range of driver focused options like seat and steering adjustments make an extremely comfortable drive. For anyone who has followed Mazda’s vehicles will realize one thing, they have always paid more attention on the driver side then the passenger. Moving on, audio comes through a CD MP3 player while the top-end variants get Bose music system. Seats are comfortable and wrapped in leather (fabric for base) along with leather wrapped steering mounted with audio and cruise control settings. Space in appreciated on both rows, despite the sloping roofline head room at the back is satisfactory. An impressive feature is the Key-less entry system which runs standard on all variants in GCC. The top end models shine brighter with features like push button start, paddle shifters and powered seats.

Mazda 6 offers two engine options for 2012, a 2.0L 4-cylinder automatic and a 2.5L 4-cylinder Activematic. This engine drive amazing power to the wheels and Mazda 6 impresses on the roads. The sedan smoothly cuts through the corners at high speeds and remains firm at all times. The steering feel is smooth, especially on the corners the steering wheel does not tug to the corner as you accelerate. Form the driver’s point of view, this sedan sets high standards by delivering a smooth ride with crisp handling.

For the safety of its passengers, Mazda 6 provides dual airbags, high mount stop lamps, ABS and immobilizer as standard safety equipment on all variants. The higher trim levels get added safety from the use of traction control.

From its makeover in 2009, Mazda 6 has proved to be an impressive ride with all the traits of a successful mid segment sedan. Unfortunately, poor marketing skills and extremely poor after sales service in this regions across GCC has overshadowed the competency of this sedan.
